Edge for Dev

About Me

Hi, I’m Damir. I live in Switzerland, near Geneva. I’ve been in the software business for 22 years. Everything I ever earned in my life came from software development and IT-related business. On education side, beyond self-taught entrepreneurship, electrical engineering and psychology were my choices.

I’ve been involved with the Internet since ‘91, and with this web thing since ‘95/’96.

After moving to Switzerland in late nineties, as a lead consultant for US Web/CKS and later marchFIRST, I saw a lot of incredible and irrational stuff people are willing to pay for. Let me tell you, Hans Christian Andersen understood consultants long before Andersen Consulting made a short appearance onto the business scene. And it really is just like he described it.

Shortly after marchFIRST went down in blaze of glory and class-action lawsuits (it was first of the big web consultancies to go bankrupt), I went back to developing products and fixed price contracts and started WA Research. Just like this blog’s mission, WA’s mission is to help non-IT professionals realize the potential of web applications to communicate and collaborate. Without becoming slaves to technology.

At WA Research, we are developing virtual collaboration software that helps organizations connect with outsiders, on the edge of network. Our clients are large international organizations as well as non-profits.

If I had to describe myself in Fake Steve-style one liner, it would be:

You know Emperor’s New Clothes? I’m the child.
